Then there are the energy and transportation implications of the shutdown. \nHost Professor Hardy is an expert in facilities management. SUMMARY:Decarbonization Policy Framework: Building Policies
DESCRIPTION:Decarbonizing our building stock requires a comprehensive set of actions\, occurring in parallel and phased in over time\, across different sectors and levels of government. NEEP’s Building Decarbonization Public Policy Framework lays out the pathway. A successful transition to zero carbon [buildings] will require market transformation with advanced technological solutions\, and equitable and fair policy mechanisms. Critical policy areas include comprehensive state and utility policy\, building regulation\, and alignment with evaluation\, measurement\, and verification (EM&V). \nBuildings consume about two-thirds of the United States’ power supply and produce about 40 percent of carbon emissions nationwide. Existing buildings and buildings being constructed now will have a considerable impact on our region’s energy use 50 to 100 years from now. Therefore\, the built environment\, including residential\, commercial\, and public structures\, presents an opportunity to drastically reduce carbon emissions. During this webinar we will learn from best practices in building codes\, benchmarking and building standards\, and residential labeling.

DESCRIPTION:Our goal is to present information that is in-time with what our clients are experiencing in Seattle and the greater region. As we enter the phase of surveying employees for office reentry interest\, needs and wants\, companies are looking to create and communicate a physical and emotional wellness plan for when the offices open\, and health and wellness planning moving forward with COVID in mind. \nThe presenters will be Betsy Leto of Western Office\, who recently participated in Corenet’s global hackathon\, presenting her hackathon group’s key findings focused on guiding principles for implementing new wellness strategies post Covid-19. In tandem with this\, Jennifer Olson of KGO asks “What will the role of the office be in a post Covid-19 world?”. This will provide IFMA members with the tools to advance workplace wellbeing through actions as community builders and stewards of inclusion\, creating a holistic experience centered on wellness.
