Robb Andrade, Smart Buildings Center Board President
Robb is the Managing Director for Overcast Innovations, a manufacturer of integrated ceiling systems. His history includes being the General Manager of the Seattle-area branches of Johnson Controls and Siemens Smart Infrastructure. In those roles, he oversaw the sales, installation and services for Fire and Life Safety systems, Security Systems and HVAC Building Automation systems, Digital Services, Mechanical Equipment and IoT Solutions for Smart Buildings. Robb began his technology career with the US Navy and worked for Siemens both in global technology management and local general management. He also globalized a Swiss-German start-up in the FinTech industry and he co-founded a green building start-up in Washington and Oregon. Robb is President of the Board of the Smart Building Center, a member of the West Sound STEM Network Leadership and is invested in connecting industry to education across the entire state of Washington.
Chris Roe, Smart Buildings Center Board Treasurer
Chris leads Energy and Sustainable Operations for Amazon’s global building operations and is responsible for the strategy and execution against the company’s 100% renewable energy and zero carbon goals. Prior to Amazon, Chris led energy, water, and waste initiatives within the Boeing’s Real Estate organization in support of Boeing’s corporate environmental goals. Chris has a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Cambridge University, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington.
Luis Adan
Luis started at Unico in early 2020 as Vice President of Development, bringing with him decades of experience in the built environment. As a Senior Development Manager, he has several years of commercial development experience in two major markets; Southern California and the Seattle Region. Luis is a graduate of the University of Philippines with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, he then completed the course work towards a Masters in Structural Engineering from the same University. He immigrated to the United States and has since been active in both the Los Angeles and Seattle real estate markets with involvement in over 8 million sf of public and commercial real estate including commercial office buildings, condominiums, luxury multi-family apartment buildings, schools and libraries. Luis is passionate about developing buildings that add value to the people that use them, that is the motivation behind his desire to introduce smart building concepts to buildings he develops.
Josh Cales
Josh Cales joined ATS Automation as the President in June 2019. Before joining ATS, Josh spent five years as VP & GM of Alerton & Phoenix Controls, two building automation businesses for Honeywell. During that time, he worked to enhance control systems for critical environments with a specific focus on improving operating room indoor air quality. He also launched initiatives to integrate AI technologies to connect people with buildings. Prior to that, he spent ten years in China building a business focused on improving air quality and emissions for major infrastructure and petrochemical projects throughout the region. Josh is passionate about leveraging technology and the tools we have to make life better! Josh earned a degree in engineering from Oral Roberts University.
Perry England
Perry England is Vice President of Building Performance at MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, where he helps building owners make efficiency and decarbonization investments that pay for themselves. He’s a passionate leader for our state’s environment and for the right of every individual to find a meaningful path to economic security. He currently serves as President of Building Potential (formerly, Northwest Energy Efficiency Council) and as the Past Chair of Washington’s Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, and is an active contributor and member of the Smart Buildings Center Board of Directors.
Jason Johnson
Brendon Mattis
Brendon Mattis is a Principal at EEI and the branch manager of the company’s Seattle, Spokane, Portland, and Washington DC offices. His passion for sustainability began at an early age and grew into a career focused on improving building systems and reducing the environmental impact of the built environment. With over 25 years of experience in commissioning, Brendon is a respected local industry leader known for his innovative solutions, attention to detail, and collaborative approach. His commitment to excellence has made him a trusted authority in driving sustainable change through engineering and building performance. Brendon has extensive experience in a variety of projects including commercial buildings and convention centers. Notable projects include Seattle Convention Center, Spokane Convention Center, Amazon HQ, HQ2.
Ben Rushwald
Ben is an experienced senior utility leader currently overseeing Customer and System Projects for Puget Sound Energy where Ben is responsible for new customer connections. Ben is passionate about the intersection of the electric grid and customer behavior. Puget Sound Energy has aggressive decarbonization goals, where Ben is driving change to support this lofty transformational work.
Spyros Sakellariadis
Spyros has over 35 years’ experience in IT. An industry expert in cloud technologies and Internet of Things solutions, he holds multiple patents and has published many technical whitepapers on topics ranging from networking, security, email systems, and smart buildings. He was at Microsoft for 18 years, working with the Microsoft engineering teams on new product ideas, consulting with Microsoft’s Real Estate and Facilities group on implementing these the products internally, and assisting customers with their deployments. He is currently working with a small company delivering Indoor Location Services solutions.
Tearle Whitson
Tearle Whitson is an experienced engineering leader with 15+ years leading Smart Building organizations and deployments. He was most recently with DB Engineering as Director of Smart Buildings Solutions, providing consulting services to globally leading Tech, Financial and Retail companies. Previously he served as Senior Director of Smart Portfolios at CBRE, where he was part of a team that developed a companywide Smart FM executive strategy. His career began at Microsoft Headquarters in 1999 with JCI as an HVAC Technician, eventually becoming Director of Critical Systems and Infrastructure at CBRE. While at Microsoft he provided strategic oversight and management of teams delivering services, programs, and innovation in the following areas: Operations, Smart Buildings, Digital Transformation and Critical Environments. Tearle also served in the United States Submarine force from 1990-1999 in various roles.
