ENERGY STAR Benchmarking Workshop – July 31
The City of Seattle is offering a free Energy Benchmarking 101 training for participants that are new to the energy benchmarking process or want a refresher.
Register here for the 7/31/2019 benchmarking training
Seattle’s Energy Benchmarking Program (SMC 22.920) requires owners of non-residential and multifamily buildings (20,000 sf or larger) to track energy performance and annually report to the City of Seattle.
SBC Technical Webinar Series Continues in Sept and Oct
LIGHTFAIR International Post-game webinar available on SBC YouTube channel
If you missed the LIGHTFAIR® International Post-game webinar with the Lighting Design Lab last month, you can watch the webinar recording on the Smart Buildings Center YouTube channel and view the slide deck on the Lighting Design Lab’s website.
LIGHTFAIR® International is the industry event where everyone – from huge conglomerates to small tech-firm startups – come to display innovative new ideas that are changing how we illuminate and connect to the world around us.
Topics covered in the post-conference webinar include: networked and luminaire level lighting controls; tunable lighting and power over ethernet; non-energy benefits that connect utilities and their customers; and other hot topics like horticultural lighting, lighting and health, and identifying market barriers/education needs.
The webinar is brought to you through a partnership between the Lighting Design Lab and the Smart Buildings Center.
LEED Energy Modeling for Multifamily New Construction
August 14, 2019
8:30 to 11:00 (until noon optional for those who wish to stay)
Smart Buildings Center
Pacific Tower, 1200 12th Ave S, Suite 110, Seattle, WA
Register now for a power-packed session that offers the industry a better understanding of the nuts and bolts, and ultimately improved quality, of multifamily energy modeling for LEED projects. Seasoned instructors Alistair Jackson and David Reddy will impart wisdom and insider tips for modeling multifamily New Construction (NC). Content will include the typical timeline of modeling milestones, documentation requirements, common reviewer comments, tips for using modeling to optimize energy efficiency, and insight for non-analysts seeking to coordinate effectively on LEED projects. You won’t want to miss this valuable opportunity.
Who should attend: This training primarily targets beginning and mid-level energy modelers. Non-practitioners who coordinate with LEED energy modelers as part of design, real estate development, energy consulting or public permit review and funding may also wish to attend the training.
Post training information session: For those who are interested to stay after the training, Seattle City Light and Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections will outline benefits in permitting, funding, and FAR that are available to some projects on the basis of LEED Energy and Atmosphere whole building modeling results.
Cost: $125 ; Registration: https://leedmultifamilymodeling.bpt.me/

A no-cost WSU Energy Program and Smart Buildings Center Webinar for Resource Conservation Managers and Energy Managers at public facilities in Washington State and the Northwest
Take a virtual “walk down” through a building to find no- and low-cost energy savings opportunities. Melissa Sokolowsky, the tools expert at the Smart Buildings Center, will show us what to look for, where to look, and how we can turn an energy problem into an energy-saving measure. This webinar focuses on small to medium public buildings with no building automation system.
RCMs, energy managers, and similar staff from Washington state public and government institutions and agencies are the intended audience. Others from the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere may attend if space allows.
Washington State University Energy Program promotes and supports RCM programs with technical assistance, hiring and job description information, monthly newsletters, website, and more.
This free webinar from Washington State University Energy Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy State Energy Program through the Washington State Department of Commerce Energy Division.
