Puget Sound Energy’s Business Energy Management (BEM) department is looking for an Energy Management Engineer II, III, or Senior Energy Management Engineer to support commercial & industrial efficiency programs.Ā  This role in particular will support the Clean Buildings Law (HB1257) as a technical subject matter expert, including external and internal program support, development of tools and resources, as well as developing projects for customers looking to come into compliance with the law.

OSE prioritizes racial equity and environmental justice when considering and implementing climate policy.

The Job

The Office of Sustainability & Environment is seeking applications for the job of Building Technical Compliance Lead. Ā In this job, you will serve as the point person for commercial building energy efficiency regulation under SMC 22.930, which includes providing building operations and maintenance technical assistance, code interpretation, and review of building tune-up submittals to confirm compliance with Seattle law. Ā You will report to the Energy Benchmarking and Tune-Ups Program Manager and focus on the following areas:

  • Operating the Building Tune-Ups help desk
  • Implementing building energy policies and programs
  • Providing technical review of building energy benchmarking reports and tune-up alternative compliance and report submissions
  • Leading updates to the Director’s Rules and working with the Program Manager to propose ordinance changes to enhance policy effectiveness
  • Developing curriculum and providing training for building engineers and energy efficiency professionals
  • Creating articles and publishing a quarterly e-newsletter
  • Using the Seattle Race and Social Equity Index to identify and proactively communicate with owners of facilities in priority areas that need support in order to comply with regulations

The Energy Program within the Facility Professional Services (FPS) division manages energy-efficiency and resource-conservation projects on behalf of state and local government facilities. The goal of the Energy Program is to provide comprehensive energy project management and other technical services to help our clients reduce energy and operational costs, and reach sustainability goals.

What you will be doing:
You will collaborate with a team of energy engineers navigating through organizational processes and will be responsible for providing professional level research, analysis, consultation, implementation, outreach, and evaluation related to state energy programs performance and direction. You will provide consultation to management, formulate complex issues, and make recommendations on performance goals and issues that impact the Energy Program. Your research results will help guide program delivery and positively impact Ā multiple agencies, jurisdictions and organizations.

Job Description
Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Resource Conservation Manager (RCM) to lead energy efficiency improvements and resource conservation activities in company-owned & leased facilities.Ā  The RCM will promote energy efficiency best practices within PSE’s buildings, working collaboratively with multiple workgroups including Facilities, Energy Efficiency, Clean Energy Strategy, and PSE’s Green Team.

This role will focus on optimizing energy efficiency, cost-savings, and conservation measures through building audits, collecting data, conducting research, stakeholder engagement, supervisor guidance, and other appropriate factors. This role will develop pertinent documentation and key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate achievement of energy efficiency goals. This role works with technicians and engineers to identify, plan, develop, design, and implement energy conservation measures.Ā  These solutions will balance needs between safety, lifecycle, operations, costs, comfort, and Return on Investment (ROI).

This role also prepares, maintains, and updates plans that identify operation & maintenance, capital, and behavioral energy savings opportunities at PSE sites and properties.Ā  This may include conducting site walk-throughs, energy audits, compiling ideas from PSE staff, and coordination with Green Team members.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.
