HVAC Issues in 2021 WA & Seattle Commercial Energy Codes

The March 20th webinar will cover HVAC provisions of the 2021 Seattle and Washington state energy codes for commercial and multifamily buildings, highlighting requirements that are new to this edition and the differences between the Seattle and State codes. Discussion topics will include the Total System Performance Ratio (TSPR), data center standards, restrictions on fossil fuel and electric resistance heating, balanced ventilation, DOAS, energy recovery, and system alterations, as well as impacts of the new “fossil fuel compliance path” and Initiative 2066. Duane Jonlin, FAIA, will present the code requirements, and special guest Ben Roush, PE, of FSI Engineers will demonstrate design options. Q&A time will follow.

WA Dept of Commerce: Qualified Contractor Network Webinar 1/14

Dept of Commerce is inviting YOU to their Qualified Contractor Network Webinar on 1/14 from  12:30 – 1:30PM. Details follow:

Are you a contractor interested in residential projects? The Department of Commerce’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Home Energy Rebate Programs have $165 million to help homeowners improve their homes with weatherization and high-efficiency appliances — and we’re seeking skilled contractors to make it happen!

Join us for a webinar on January 14, 2025,12:30-1:30 p.m., to learn how the program works and how to join the QCN. You’ll learn how residents will locate QCN contractors in their area, financial incentives available for contractors, and how contractors get paid.

Register Now

The Qualified Contractor Network (QCN) will become a statewide list of residential contractors qualified to work on IRA home energy rebate projects. Contractors must be members of the QCN to work on these projects. We are seeking:

  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • HVAC/heat pump technicians
  • Home insulators and air sealers
  • Home energy auditors

Register on Zoom and include questions for the Commerce team to answer during the webinar. The webinar recording and presentation will be provided to registrants afterward.

Cracking the Codes: The Present and Future of Northwest Energy Code

Get to know the similarities and differences of the two primary commercial energy codes used as the basis for state energy codes in the Northwest—ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC. Along with an overview of current energy codes, webinar attendees will learn how codes will likely change in the future, and how the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (NEEA) Market Transformation programs and initiatives can tie into future code provisions. Specific topics will include:

  • The general process and timeline for updating energy codes
  • Key differences between how states develop and utilize energy codes
  • How NEEA is involved in energy code development in the Northwest and elsewhere
