As states like Massachusetts, California, and New York start to grapple with the future of gas in the context of increasingly urgent climate change goals, it’s clear the old model of utility regulation won’t be sufficient. Without a concerted effort to eliminate fossil fuels for space and water heating, clothes drying, and cooking, buildings sector emissions will remain flat and states won’t meet their climate goals. Speakers will discuss these pressing challenges and offer a new vision for how regulators can lead in the effort to decarbonize buildings.
