Oregon Building Energy and Performance Fellowship Project (OBEP)

The Oregon Building Energy and Performance project (OBEP) is a collaborative initiative led by the Smart Buildings Center, Strategic Energy Innovations, San Timoteo Energy Associates, in coordination with the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE). This partnership supports under-resourced building owners in meeting the requirements of Oregon’s Building Performance Standards (OR BPS).  As part of the initiative, the OBEP Fellow receives training in areas such as the Green Building Practicum, Building Operator Certification, and Oregon BPS compliance. These trainings are facilitated by San Timoteo Energy Associates and the Smart Buildings Center to help fellows assist building owners throughout the compliance process.

The OBEP Fellow provides free education, technical support, and compliance guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 building owners regarding Oregon’s Building Performance Standards (BPS). This includes helping owners understand regulatory requirements, access relevant resources, and implement necessary measures to meet BPS obligations.

The fellow supports owners and operators of large commercial and multifamily buildings in rural counties in northwestern Oregon, helping them improve energy performance and comply with the Oregon Building Performance Standard (OR BPS) through no-cost technical services.

About the fellowship

The OBEP Fellow can provide the following services to Tier 1 and Tier 2 building owners:

  • Outreach and education

  • Support for energy management planning

  • Support for exemption and incentive applications
