The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, the American Lung Association, and Go Green Initiative are partnering on a multiyear initiative to help K-12 schools improve indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency and they need your help! Read the brief below for more information:
We need your help to understand professional development needs in this area. By completing our 15-minute survey, school system staff can help us develop resources that will support school indoor air quality management that also minimizes energy use (Energy Efficient IAQ).

Commerce and the Smart Building Center are offering a free virtual and in-person Qualified Energy Manager Certification course in June. Space is limited. A free and on-demand course will be available in the future.
The Qualified Energy Management (QEM) course is designed to equip building professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to comply with the Tier 2 requirements of the Washington State’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard (CBPS). This comprehensive training is ideal for building operators, energy managers, and facility staff.
In accordance with the CBPS, a QEM must have two years of experience, including educational and/or professional experience, with commercial building operations and/or building energy management in addition to successful completion of this training. Upon completion of the Qualified Energy Management (QEM) course, you will be able to:

Meet members of the Clean Buildings team, Smart Buildings Center, and other Clean Buildings and Benchmarking support staff at the Clean Buildings Law Open House hosted by PSE and Seattle City Light on May 14, 2025, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in Tukwila.
We are teaming up with PSE and Seattle City Light to offer free in person support and guidance to local commercial and multifamily property owners and managers who are navigating their way through the Clean Buildings Performance Standard pathway.
