March 6^th, 11am ET, a LinkedIn Live webinar hosted by RMI on “The Future of Indoor Air: Policy Solutions for Clean and Healthy Buildings.”

When strategizing health and climate goals in the building sector, the US has a blind spot: indoor air. Despite being one of the country’s top five major health risks, indoor air pollution is currently overlooked and unregulated. Burning fossil fuels in buildings releases additional health-harming pollutants that exacerbate climate change. A recent report from RMI summarizes how indoor air quality guidelines are a critical first step to effectively address indoor air pollutants, and how they can inform policy measures to mitigate risk.

RMI will host a virtual panel discussion on March 6^th, 2024 at 11am ET, summarizing their recent report and convening industry experts to illuminate why now is the ideal time to improve indoor air and what policy solutions are available to deploy. They’ll also answer key questions about indoor air pollution and building performance, including those from audience members.

Northwest Energy Efficiency Council Transitions to Building Potential

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) is excited to announce the organization’s official transition to Building Potential, the name shared at the member celebration will be the trade association’s new name.

As Building Potential makes this official transition, you will begin to see the new logo and name in predictable places. It will take a little time to fully transition over to the new name, as our branding on collateral, social media etc. is slowly replaced, however moving forward, the NEEC blog will be renamed “Building Potential News” and the website has been changed to www.buildingpotential.org.

Northwest Energy Efficiency Council Transitions to Building Potential, A Leading Non-Profit Trade Association Shaping the Building Decarbonization Industry

Seattle, January 30, 2024 – The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) is thrilled to unveil its rebranding as “Building Potential,” marking a significant evolution in its role as a non-profit trade association. This strategic shift reflects the organization’s commitment to representing and advancing the industry that is transforming the built environment through energy efficiency, demand flexibility and other behind the meter resources, equipment and interventions.

In 2022, the organization announced a revamped mission and vision for the organization, one that aligns with the direction of the industry and its members and stakeholders: “We envision a world with net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and our mission is to eliminate carbon emissions from building energy use through market-based thought leadership, education, and advocacy.”

As Building Potential, the organization assumes a leading position as a non-profit trade association, championing the collective efforts of industry stakeholders dedicated to reshaping the future of buildings. This rebranding signifies a broader and more inclusive focus on the diverse facets of building decarbonization, where buildings actively contribute to carbon reduction targets.

In this changing industry landscape, Building Potential will continue to serve as a unifying force for individuals, businesses, and organizations involved in the building efficiency, performance, and decarbonization industries to collaboratively work to transform our building stock. By fostering collaboration, education, and advocacy, the association aims to accelerate the adoption of innovative practices and technologies that enable buildings to play an active role in achieving societal sustainability goals.

This is a great opportunity to learn about EnergyCAP and how to use it to benchmark your buildings to monitor your energy use. Benchmarking is also a requirement under Seattle law, so if you are responsible for benchmarking inside the city limits this is a great way to ensure your gas data is accurately reported.

Senior Energy Program Manager – Tacoma

The City of Tacoma is committed to fostering a workplace that is innovative and flexible, and which attracts, supports, and retains a diverse and talented workforce. This is a telework eligible, hybrid position and will require in-office days as well as site visits at business customer facilities.

Tacoma Power is looking for a Senior Program Manager to join their Business Customer Energy Programs team. In this role you will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of innovative energy programs and projects with Tacoma Power’s commercial and industrial customers. This position requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills, experience performing energy analysis, and advanced program management skills to ensure that Tacoma Power achieves its energy conservation goals and complies with Washington’s Energy Independence Act and Clean Buildings Law.

Tacoma Power relies on this position to provide expert program advice to customers, trade allies, internal staff and external organizations regarding energy consumption and energy cost management in commercial facilities. In this role you will collaborate with energy engineers and analysts, data scientists, resource planners, communications specialists, facility managers, commercial contractors, consulting firms, and Tacoma Power customers ranging from small businesses to key accounts.

Responsibilities Include:

Deliver energy programs and implement energy-saving incentive projects with Tacoma Power’s business customers. Lead collaborative efforts to streamline and improve performance-based offerings for commercial buildings including Strategic Energy Management and compliance support for Washington’s Clean Buildings Law.
Provide expert advice to commercial customers by analyzing energy consumption patterns, performing energy assessments and financial analyses, and identifying opportunities for saving energy and reducing energy costs.
Work with regional partners to coordinate program offerings and requirements, such as commercial equipment rebate offerings.
Monitor new products and emerging technologies, assessing product performance and providing insights to inform future program offerings.
Cultivate strong relationships with commercial trade allies and understand what motivates them to sell and promote specific products. Identify new and innovative ways to promote programs and engage business customers to participate in energy programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management or directly related field AND
4 years of experience in energy conservation or energy efficiency programs.
