PSE is here to help buildings owners comply with Washington’s Clean Buildings Law (HB 1257, 2019). Our Clean Buildings Accelerator program unpacks the complex law, meets you where you’re at with your energy usage, and teaches you how to comply and go beyond through hands-on training using your own building(s). We’ll help you leverage additional PSE energy-management and incentive programs throughout the entire process. Best part: there is no cost to participate in the Accelerator. Learn more and sign up for orientations or our next Accelerator training at pse.com/cleanbuildings. Our next virtual cohort training is April 25th and some room still exists.
Demo the Fluke ii910 Precision Acoustic Imager!
The Smart Buildings Center Tool Lending Library is excited to announce the latest addition to our tool inventory, the Fluke ii910 Precision Acoustic Imager, which can quickly pinpoint and measure leaks in compressed air, gas, steam, and vacuum systems, even in noisy environments. These types of leaks can be a huge waste of energy, and detecting them has traditionally been a tedious and time-consuming process… until now.
Adam Sheffield, Fluke’s Territory Sales Manager for Northern Washington, will join us at the Smart Buildings Center to share pro tips to help get the best results with this instrument. We’ll also have several units available for hands-on learning.
Participation in this event will qualify as 1.5 BOC credential maintenance points.

Smart Buildings Exchange 2022 Session Recordings Available!
Last week the second annual Smart Buildings Exchange (SBX) delivered a value-packed three days of conversations focused on the market opportunity for smart buildings and their role in our clean energy future.
The conference kicked off with an Opening Plenary session featuring Darlene Pope, President of Planon, North America, who is a globally recognized subject matter expert and visionary in the smart building industry with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, technology, and smart building consulting.
Following the Opening Plenary session were sessions on Grid-Interactive Efficient Buildings, Building System Interoperability, Demystifying Digital Twin Technology, and Making Existing Buildings Smarter.
The second day of the conference began with a Plenary Session during which Ash Awad, the Chief Market Officer for McKinstry, moderated a panel where senior executives: Debra Smith of Seattle City Light, Wayne O’Connor of Creative Energy, David Woodson of University of Washington, Greg Smith of Urban Visions, and Andy Wappler of Puget Sound Energy discussed the future of energy services and the built environment. The day continued with sessions on the Role of Smart Buildings in Reducing Carbon Emissions, Workforce Development Opportunities, Achieving and Maintaining Indoor Environmental Quality, and Making Smart Actionable.
The third and final day of the conference featured an in-person discussion on building performance data and how smart technologies can help building owners and managers in fulfilling requirements related to energy and ESG reporting. The session was also live streamed for virtual participation, and it was great to convene in a hybrid format for the first time in nearly three years!
All SBX session recordings are now available on the Smart Buildings Center YouTube Channel so you can watch any you missed and rewatch any you enjoyed.
Thank you to all sponsors, planning committee members, speakers, and attendees who helped make the event a success!
