Empowering Smart Buildings: Improving Productivity and Reducing Operating Costs

October 26th

730am – 930am

                                 Smart Buildings Center

This event serves as a kick off for the newly designated 501(c)3 organization, the Smart Buildings Center Education Program (SBC-EP). This non-profit is driven by an educational mission to inform stakeholders in the built environment of the productivity and cost benefits of deploying data driven smart building strategies.

Beginning with an informal light breakfast, attendees will be able to network and visit resource kiosks which feature items such as the real time energy performance dashboard (SkySpark) tracking building system performance of the Pacific Tower. Attendees will also see displays of building diagnostic tools available from the Tool Lending Library housed at the SBC. A smart screen board will be accessible that allows participants to view analysis visualizations of energy and performance data.

The formal program begins at 8:15am with a welcome address by Jim Baggs, Customer Service, Communications & Regulatory Affairs Officer of Seattle City Light. At 8:30am, the SBC Board of Directors will participate in a facilitated panel discussion that highlights smart building technologies and practices and how this region is taking a leadership position in bringing these ideas to market.

Industry Panel:

  • Perry England, VP Building Performance, MacDonald Miller
  • Dan McConnon, DCYF Project Director, WA Dept. of Commerce
  • Chris Roe, Energy Procurement Manager, Amazon
  • Cal Shirley, VP of Customer Solutions, Puget Sound Energy (retired)
  • Bert Von Hoof, Partner, GPM Azure IoT, Microsoft
  • Phil Welker, Executive Director, PECI

The event is FREE but space is limited, so RSVP now!

WA and OR Among Top 10 in 2017 ACEEE State Energy Efficiency Scorecard!

The 11th annual report from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), released this month, shows which states are doing the best on energy efficiency – a critical tool for withstanding and recovering from storms and economic shocks (like the Big One!). To download the State Energy Efficiency Scorecard online, go to http://aceee.org/state-policy/scorecard.

A special congrats to Oregon and Washington State ranking fifth and seventh, respectively, and are in the top 10 again with well-established efficiency programs and continues to push the boundaries by redefining the ways in which policies and regulations can enable energy savings.

Upcoming Clean Energy Conference Tackles 3 Big Questions

October 10, 2017 By SBC

Nearly everyone agrees the Northwest should transition to the cleanest possible electric system.  But knowing what that system looks like and how to get there forces us to answer 3 difficult questions:

  • How can and should investor-owned utilities be motivated to pursue clean energy?
  • What should the role of natural gas be in our clean energy future?
  • How can we make the transition to a clean energy future equitable for frontline communities and for workers affected by the decline of fossil fuels?

Debating these and other vital questions will be leaders and experts from business, advocacy organizations, government . . . and, we hope, you as well.

It happens on November 2 in Seattle.  Register now for the Clean & Affordable Energy Conference and be part of the conversation the Northwest needs to have.

Then, join the Coalition in the evening for the fantastic Clean Energy Awards Gala, honoring exceptional leaders in advancing clean energy progress in the Northwest. You don’t want to miss this special event and opportunity to support the Coalition’s work!

Register!

Save money ($50) by registering for the conference and gala together! Simply select the combo ticket when you register.
